Syllabus & Prizes

1. Two contrasting pieces to be performed with a total duration of no more than 8 minutes.

2. There are no restrictions as to the genre of music to be performed.

3. Bursary of 200 Euro and Dublin Airport Authority Perpetual Cup for Malahide Young Musician of the Year. This prize will be awarded following a play-off involving the winners of all individual categories and will be presented to the competitor who, in the opinion of the Adjudicator, shows the most merit. Performances in the Group Section will not be considered for this prize.

4. Prizes in each of the following categories : Brass, Pianoforte, String, Vocal, Woodwind and Other Instrument. Additional prizes will be awarded in any category where sufficient entries are received. Additional age groupings may also be added if sufficient entries in those age groups are received.

5. Perpetual Shield for best Group performance.

​

6. A prize will be awarded to the person who, in the view of the Committee, contributes most to the overall spirit of the competition.

​

7. A prize will also be awarded to the entrant who, in the opinion of the Adjudicator, shows the most promise.
