Syllabus & Prizes
1. Two contrasting pieces to be performed with a total duration of no more than 8 minutes. In cases where there is a large number of entries within a category, we reserve the right to hear one piece. The second piece may be performed on recall if the adjudicator wishes.

2. There are no restrictions as to the genre of music to be performed.

3. Bursary of 200 Euro and the Derek and Rhona Keogh Perpetual Cup for Malahide Young Musician of the Year. This prize will be awarded following a play-off involving the winners of all individual categories and will be presented to the competitor who, in the opinion of the Adjudicator, shows the most merit. Performances in the Group Section will not be considered for this prize.

4. There will be an overall prize awarded for each category. Additional prizes will be awarded in any category where sufficient entries are received.

5. Perpetual Shield for best Group performance plus a bursary of €100.
​
6. A prize will be awarded to the person who, in the view of the Committee, contributes most to the overall spirit of the competition.
​
7. A prize will also be awarded to the entrant who, in the opinion of the Adjudicator, shows the most promise.

8. Entry Fees 2026:

Individual: €20
Multiple entry limit: €30 (for one person entering several competitions)
Family limit: €35 (max fee for any family with multiple competitors)
Group: €30
